Moving!

Moving pangs. I’m shifting my residence after living in the same place in Mumbai for over 20 years! My schedules are all haywire, all thanks to the insane amounts of work needed to furnish the new residence. Wall colors, veneer prices, designs, lights, cable tv connections, bathroom design, colour of the fans, wirings for every plug point, height of the ceiling, concealed wiring, door designs, plywoods, laminate designs, wash basins, shower panels, speakers, picture lights, bed designs, chandelier style, color schemes, smoothening walls, cracked joints, door handles, hinges, telephone connections, transformers, 10 watt bulbs, crystal lights, spot lights, PL lights, jacuzzi, french windows, mosquito meshes, shoe rack, paintings, picture frames, marble designs, granite colors, foot light, wardrobes, drawers, handles, kitchen fittings, sinks, chimneys, mirrors, designer glass, tiles, window frames .. are just some of the things I’ve been working on a daily basis for the last couple of months. Its a challenge to build something from ground up and I can almost tell you what piece of hardware you can buy where in Mumbai !

Its been a challenge like none other! My family didn’t hire an interior designer for a simple reason. We wanted our ‘own home’. I realized that although I love looking and admiring abstract furniture designs and concepts, I dont necessarily feel comfortable being around em.

Um..now where do those ‘up lights’ go …. at what height do we want the door handles ….. how do I beautify the balcony… what.. ? did you say ’sleeper wood’?

As you can see I am seriously in a deranged and info overloaded mode. Handle with caution!

Since you claim to not “need” your own room, I’m always willing to help by moving in. What will you do with so much vacant space? ;)

Wow.. that really does sound like loads of effort…but nevertheless it must be so nice to actually put together ur own house.. right down to the finest details.. I’d love to do it I think.. cause then it would really feel like its ‘mine’ ! Plus of course when it’s done it would be a major accomplishment :)

Hey deepti, I do remember you :) Hope you are feeling a bit better now :) . @ Neha .. thats true. Its immensly gratifying to get the entire thing done. But its also a major challenge. Atleast for a hideous perfectionist like me :P
